RSIF is owned and led by African governments through PASET.
RSIF is the flagship program of The Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET), an African-led initiative with the goal of strengthening skills in the Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology to further socio-economic transformation in sub-Saharan Africa. RSIF focuses on transformative technologies that have a far-reaching positive impact on society. In 2018, the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, Kenya was competitively selected as RSIF’s Regional Coordination Unit with mandate to manage the implementation of the RSIF and achieving benchmarks set by the PASET Governing Council. icipe works closely with the PASET Secretariat and reports to the PASET Executive Board.
USD 52 million has been raised to date for PhD scholarships and to catalyze Africa’s research and innovation agenda. RSIF is funded by African governments, the World Bank, the Government of Korea and the European Union through the ACP Innovation Fund.
